Street plays have always been a powerful tool of social change. The idea of a street play is to propagate social and political messages and create awareness. A street play, or “NukkadNatak”, is characterised by highly enthusiastic and energetic performance so as to attract maximum crowd and convey the message to the onlookers.
In a bid to spread awareness about various social evils prevalent in our society, Presidium School, Ashok Viharorganised an inter class NukkadNatak Competition, staged by the students of Grade 12.Presidians came up with wonderful skits and strategies to convey the real social challenges faced by the society such as female foeticide, dowry, bullying and substance abuse showcasing indifferent public behaviour and mind set through their touching performance.
Preparing a meaningful skit on such sensitive topics was a great learning task which Presidians performed skillfully. The natak was filled with humorous yet meaningful scenes and attracted the student audience. The talented performers were acknowledged by the audience and judges for their performances. Students advocated their views on how the youth of today should put forth a united medium to eradicate all evils from the society, thus creating a progressive and a stable society.
